The Old Spaghetti Factory legend wasn’t created with advertising dollars, viral videos or an investment group’s startup capital. It was born out of one man’s decision to do things right.
Guss Dussin opened the first Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant in Portland, OR on January 10, 1969, without a single ad to announce his arrival. By the end of the night he had pocketed a paltry $171.80. But the Navy veteran had an ace up his sleeve. He knew that honesty, dignity, respect, hard work, teamwork and guest satisfaction were a can’t-miss recipe for dining success.
Since that first night, The Old Spaghetti Factory has grown into a national phenomenon, featuring 40 restaurants that serve more than 10 million guests annually. There have been changes over those four decades, but when guests walk through the doors they can be assured of the same principles Guss unveiled that first rainy night: great food, affordable prices and an experience unlike any other.
Nearly every item on The Old Spaghetti Factory’s menu is made on-site, from scratch, using fresh ingredients. Unlike most restaurants, when you order an entrée we serve you a complete meal, which includes bread, soup/salad, a drink and dessert. Our broad selection of pasta, meat and salads gets our guests’ attention, and it’s the surprising value that keeps them returning visit after visit.
A meal at The Old Spaghetti Factory is more than a meal. It’s an experience. We invest meticulous attention to our décor, so our guests feel as though they’re stepping into another world. Every location is adorned with antique lighting, intricate stain glass displays and an old-fashioned trolley car that doubles as centerpiece display and dining hall.
